This new home perched high above the San Francisco Bay is 100% sustainable. A 14.9 KwH roof-top solar array supplies the power consumed by the all-electric house and charges the electric car. In addition to being net-zero energy the “PlusHouse” earns its name by collecting rainwater from the roof and graywater from the house to be used in the future in a way that’s rarely been done before……as drinking water!
Large windows and doors provide dramatic panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay, opening to allow the ocean breezes to cool the house on hot days, while radiant heated floors powered by the sun’s energy provide warmth on the cold days. All of the products used were carefully vetted for VOCs and toxins, and FSC wood was selected throughout the structure.
